Captain Planet, a member of the renowned Ghanaian music trio 4X4, has officially confirmed that the group will not be making a comeback.
In a social media post, he responded to repeated questions from fans about a possible reunion, saying, “Massa, 4X4 will not be making a comeback. We’re too old to form a group again, like we’re Boys II Men.”
He added that while they may occasionally perform their classic group hits, 4X4 as a collective will no longer produce new music together.
“Our job was done a long time ago. No More 4X4. We’re good as brothers. Just enjoy our old tunes,” he said.
4X4 was formed in the year 2000 and originally comprised Captain Planet (Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey), Coded (Russell Edem Avornyo), and later Fresh Prince (Prince Tamakloe), who joined the group in 2007.
The trio became known for their unique blend of hip hop, Afrobeat, and high-energy hiplife, which captivated audiences across Ghana and beyond.
Over the years, 4X4 released several hit songs including “World Trade Center”, “Yesi Yesi”, “Waist and Power”, and “London Bridge”, earning them a loyal fanbase and multiple awards at major Ghanaian and African music awards schemes.
However, the group members have gradually shifted focus to solo projects and individual pursuits in recent years.
Captain Planet has been actively releasing music on his own, while Coded and Fresh Prince have also pursued solo efforts and business ventures.
Though the news may come as a disappointment to fans hoping for a comeback, the legacy of 4X4 remains solid.
