The 307 ambulances, procured by the Akufo-Addo-led government, have been commissioned at the Black Star Square in Accra.
This is in fulfillment of the Akufo-Addo-led government’s one-constituency one-ambulance promise which seeks to improve emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana.

The commissioning was earlier scheduled for January 6, 2020 but a letter from the National Ambulance Service (NAS) addressed to President Nana Akufo-Addo called for a postponement.

The service explained the postponement was necessary as important technical issues needed to be completely addressed before the ambulances could be commissioned and dispatched to the various constituencies.

Meanwhile, personnel of NAS, including paramedics and drivers, have successfully undergone training prior to the commissioning to ensure efficient and effective pre-hospital services.
