The Second edition of the biggest literary festival in Africa, Accra International Book Festival (AIBF) would be launched in August 2019.
The Festival is expected to bring together world-class writers, poets, scientists, environmentalists, and politicians as well as the reading public from the continent.
The launch would take place on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The Accra International Book Festival is a non-profit charitable organisation established to foster a love of books and reading among Ghanaians of all backgrounds and ages.
It aims to achieve its objective through informative workshops and lively author events with the express purpose of inspiring and educating the next generation of African writers.
The maiden Accrabookfest held in September last year attracted authors such as Ayesha Harruna Attah, Ruby Yayra Goka, Nana Damoah Awere, Empi Baryeh, Manasseh Awuni Azure and Boakyewaa Glover.
The event was held at the premises of the Wildlife Society of Ghana in Accra near the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.
In a statement Friday, AIBF Executive Director, Kwabena Brakopowers said preparations are underway to make the 2nd Accrabookfest the “biggest and best 2019 event ever in the history of the continent.”
“We have learned some useful lessons since our maiden event and are poised to deliver the best content and world-class resource persons to our teeming audience, coming October this year,” he said.
The 2nd Accrabookfest would be held from October 24 – 27, 2019 at the University of Ghana, Legon.
