2026 WCQ: Otto Addo vows Black Stars will beat Madagascar

-

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has vowed that his team will do everything possible to defeat Madagascar on Monday and retain their lead in the group standings.

The 49-year-old coach made these remarks following Ghana’s dominant 5-0 victory over Chad in their Matchday 5 qualifier on Friday night at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Addo underscored the importance of staying at the summit of the table.

“It’s always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there. We will try to do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep the top spot,” he noted.

While acknowledging the challenge ahead, he emphasized the need for focus and preparation.

“There’s nothing we can do [about the fixture schedule]; we have to accept it. It will be tough; they [Madagascar] have a really good team,” he said.

He also stressed the urgency of preparations for the crucial fixture.

“The preparations start now, and it’s good that we won so we can focus on Madagascar,” he added.

Ghana’s emphatic victory against Chad was powered by goals from Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohamed Salifu, and Ernest Nuamah, securing all three points.

The Black Stars will now travel to Morocco to face second-placed Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium on Monday, March 24, in their Matchday 6 clash.

A victory in this encounter would further strengthen Ghana’s position at the top and move them closer to securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
