2026 WCQ: Benjamin Asare retains position as Otto Addo names starting XI for Madagascar clash

-

Ghana coach Otto Addo has made two adjustments to his starting XI for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar.

Defender Jerome Opoku and midfielder Abu Francis have been drafted into the lineup, replacing Ernest Nuamah and Inaki Williams in a 3-5-2 formation.

Benjamin Asare retains his place in goal, shielded by a three-man defense comprising Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu, and Jerome Opoku.

Kingsley Schindler and Gideon Mensah will operate as wing-backs, while Thomas Partey partners with Abu Francis in midfield.

In attack, Antoine Semenyo and captain Jordan Ayew lead the line, with Mohammed Kudus positioned just behind them to provide creativity.

The Black Stars are aiming to solidify their spot at the top of Group I after their dominant 5-0 victory over Chad last Friday.

The match against Madagascar kicks off at 19:00 GMT at the Grande Stade Al Hoceima in Morocco.
