2025 AFCONQ: We will do everything to beat Sudan – Alidu Seidu

-

Alidu Seidu is focused on driving his team to success as the Black Stars gear up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan

After a tough beginning to the qualifiers, where Ghana managed only one point from their first two matches, Seidu remains hopeful of a positive outcome.

“Now there’s Sudan coming, and playing 1-1 against Niger will serve as a lesson for us. We are going to give everything to beat Sudan home and away,” he told Flashscore.

In the recent qualifier against Niger, which ended in a draw, Seidu netted his first international goal. Despite this achievement, he expressed disappointment with the team’s overall performance.

“We didn’t start well against Niger. We lost a lot of balls. When I scored, I wasn’t too happy because I know we could do better. Playing in Africa means that scoring one is never enough. If it had been the second goal I had scored, I would have celebrated more; but it was 1-0, and I was already thinking about us getting the second.”

As he anticipates the showdown with Sudan, the 24-year-old acknowledges that the match will be emotionally charged, yet he feels no personal pressure.

“Tempers will be high for the Sudan game, but no pressure. I will try to give everything and enjoy football so people are happy,” he said.

Ghana’s recent form has raised alarms among supporters, marking their worst start to an AFCON qualifying campaign since 1961.

Nonetheless, with players like Seidu stepping up and demonstrating leadership on the field, there is optimism that they can reverse their fortunes in the upcoming encounter with Sudan on Thursday.
