2025 AFCONQ: We were unlucky – Otto Addo after losing to Angola

-

The Black Stars faced a disappointing start to their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, suffering a defeat against Angola on Thursday night at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After a goalless first half, Angola’s Palancas Negras secured a late victory with substitute Milson netting the decisive goal in the 89th minute, ending the match 1-0 in favour of Angola.

Speaking after the game, head coach Otto Addo, 45, expressed his frustration over the result, particularly the end of Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten home record.

“We were unlucky today,” Addo said. “We played well, especially in the second half. It’s disappointing to see our unbeaten home streak broken.”

The loss leaves the Black Stars in third place in Group F without a point.

They will aim to bounce back in their second group match against Niger, scheduled for Monday, September 9, in Berkane.
