2025 AFCONQ: We were poor against Niger – Otto Addo

-

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has acknowledged that his team delivered a subpar performance in their match against Niger.

Following a disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola in their opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at Baba Yara Stadium, the team aimed to secure their first victory.

However, they could only manage a 1-1 draw against the Super Eagles in Berkane.

At a squad unveiling event ahead of the upcoming doubleheader against Sudan, the 45-year-old coach expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance.

“It did not like the way we played against Angola in Kumasi but I think we played badly against Niger,” he said.

The Black Stars are set to begin training on Monday in Accra, with the first leg of their match against Sudan taking place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10. The return leg is scheduled for October 15 in Benina, Libya.

Currently, Ghana is seeking their first win in the qualifiers after the loss to Angola and the draw with Niger, placing them third in Group F with just one point.
