2025 AFCONQ: We have to play with the right intensity to beat Sudan – Otto Addo

-

Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has urged his players to bring the right intensity when they face Sudan in next month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana started their qualifying campaign on a tough note, losing 1-0 to Angola, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger. As a result, the Black Stars currently sit in 3rd place in Group F with just one point from two matches.

Otto Addo is now aiming for his first victory in the qualifiers as the team prepares for a crucial doubleheader against Sudan.

In an interview with African football journalist Micky Junior during the CAF Conference in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Addo emphasized the need for improvement in their upcoming matches.

“The biggest thing is that we show passion [against Sudan]. This was lacking in our last game against Niger and we have to bring this passion back on the field,” said the gaffer.

“Besides all the tactics and quality, we have to show passion, especially defensively, and intensity, to beat this team [Sudan].

“If we show it, I think everything is possible and we can take some points from them,” he added.

Ghana will face Sudan, now coached by former Black Stars boss Kwesi Appiah, who has started well in his new role, losing only one competitive match.

The first leg will be held at a venue yet to be confirmed, followed by the second leg at the Al-Merrikh Stadium.
