2025 AFCONQ: We deserve to win against Sudan – Ghana coach Otto Addo

-

Black Stars coach Otto Addo believes his team deserved a victory in their match against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.

In the first leg of the Group F doubleheader, the Black Stars dominated but failed to capitalize on their chances, resulting in a 0-0 draw against Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan side.

The result leaves Ghana, four-time African champions, in third place with just two points, putting their hopes of qualifying for the tournament in jeopardy.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Addo expressed his disappointment saying, “The chances were there. A lot of chances, but this is football. Sometimes, it is very, very hard for us. So now it pains even more. The Niger game pains even more, and also the last-minute goal against Angola pains even more.

“Today, again, we did well, and there’s not much I can say except for the result, and this is the most important thing in football. It’s not correct.

He added, “I think we deserved to win, but we didn’t. But, we will stay positive, and we will beat them away with the same performance, passion, and creativity up front.”

Sudan currently sits in second place in Group F with four points, trailing Angola, the group leaders, by two points.

Ghana will have another opportunity to secure their first win in the group when they face Sudan on Tuesday at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
