-

Midfielder, Elisha Owusu has said the Black Stars must avoid defeat against Sudan in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana will face Sudan in a crucial doubleheader in Matchday three and four of the AFCON qualifiers.

After a shaky start to their campaign, coach Otto Addo and his squad need to secure maximum points from both games to boost their chances of qualifying for the prestigious tournament.

Speaking to the media after the team’s first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, Owusu stressed the significance of the upcoming fixtures and reassured fans of the team’s commitment to victory.

“We know that it is a very important game for us. I know it’s going to be very difficult for us but we are going to stick together and make (do) our best to win these two games,” he said.

The AJ Auxerre midfielder added, “We know what we have to do. This game is very important to us. We cannot afford to lose this game so we will do everything (do everything possible) to play a very, very good game and win this game.”

The Black Stars began their training with 11 players at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the remaining squad members expected to join ahead of their second session later in the day.

Ghana will host Sudan in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, at 16:00 GMT.

The return leg will take place on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
