2025 AFCONQ: We can still qualify but … – Otto Addo after Black Stars’ 1-1 draw with Niger

-

Black Stars coach, Otto Addo remains optimistic about his team’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite a challenging start to the campaign.

After their first two qualifying matches, Ghana sits third in Group F with just one point.

The team began the qualifiers with a 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium last Thursday, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger on Monday at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.

In a post-match interview, a frustrated Addo acknowledged the tough road ahead but emphasized the need for improvement.

“So it’s still possible but we have to improve, we have to improve much. We have to improve to use our chances and also to defend better in detail and to learn our lessons,” he told the Ghana FA website.

“Like I said, the goals are too cheap and we have to grow from this. We have to learn from this. This is even more than a wake-up call,” he added.

The Black Stars will face Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan in a doubleheader scheduled for October.
