Black Stars captain, Thomas Partey is bracing for challenging matches against Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana, a four-time AFCON champion, will kick off their qualifying campaign with a match against Angola later tonight at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The team will then face Niger in their second Group F game on Monday, September 9, in Berkane.
Ahead of the games, Partey acknowledges the difficulty of the upcoming fixtures but remains confident in his team’s abilities.
Although he hasn’t closely observed their opponents, he is aware of the challenges football in Africa presents.
“I think it will be difficult games but we have a good team. I have not watched our opponents but we have played against them and we know how difficult it is to play in Africa,” the 30-year-old told SuperSport
“I think we don’t have to be favourite but rather go out and show our quality and do our best and try to win because all we need is to qualify and if we don’t win, we don’t get to qualify so we have to go all out and win,” he added.
The match between Ghana and Angola is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
