Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has expressed his willingness to invite any player with Ghanaian heritage who demonstrates talent to join the senior national team.
On Thursday, August 26, the 45-year-old coach announced his 23-man squad for Ghana’s opening matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, set against Angola and Niger.
Though there were no new faces in this squad, Addo emphasized his openness to considering skilled players with Ghanaian roots for future selections.
“Our focus is on our next game, but one thing is certain: any player who is talented and has Ghanaian heritage is welcome to join the national team,” Otto stated.
“If a player has a Ghanaian name and is competing in a top European league, we will consider inviting him,” he added.
The Black Stars will kick off their 2025 AFCON qualifying journey in Group F with a match against Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a second game against Niger four days later in Berkane.
