2025 AFCONQ: Sudan question lack of training facilities in Ghana

-

Assistant coach of Sudan, Ignatius Osei Fosu, has raised concerns about the quality of training pitches in Ghana ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Since arriving in Ghana on Monday, the Sudanese national team, known as the Falcons, has been preparing for their upcoming match against the Black Stars at the St. Thomas Aquinas pitch.

The two teams are set to face off in the first leg of the doubleheader on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Osei Fosu expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the training pitch, noting that it could impact their performance.

“Preparations have been decent overall, but our main issue is the training pitch. It hasn’t been up to standard, but we have to manage. We haven’t trained at the Accra Stadium yet, but the St. Aquinas pitch is far from ideal” he said.

He added, “If the pitch at the Accra Stadium is anything like the one at St. Aquinas, we might be in for some poor-quality football.”

The second leg of the tie is scheduled for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya. Sudan currently sits second in their group, two points ahead of Ghana.
