2025 AFCONQ: Rwandan referee to officiate Ghana v Angola game

Rwandan referee, Samuel Uwikunda has been appointed to officiate Ghana’s opening match of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Angola.

The 37-year-old referee is experienced in officiating major African football competitions, having previously overseen key matches in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, the CAF Confederation Cup, the Championship of African Nations (CHAN), and the Africa Cup of Nations.

He will be supported by his compatriots Dieudonne Mutuyimana (Assistant Referee I), Eric Mugabo (Assistant Referee II), and Ruzindana Nsoro (Fourth Official).

Sanusi Mohammed from Nigeria will act as the Match Commissioner, while Elsayed Morad Attaalla from Egypt will serve as the Referee Assessor.

The match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
