Midfielder, Thomas Partey has downplayed suggestions that playing on neutral ground will give Ghana an advantage in their upcoming match against Niger.
The Black Stars are set to take on the Super Eagles today in their second Group F fixture of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, following CAF’s decision that facilities in Niger were unplayable.
While some fans believe the neutral venue could benefit Ghana by avoiding potential intimidation, Partey disagrees. In an interview with SuperSport, he stated.
“I don’t think there is any advantage to playing the game in Morocco. It all depends on how we approach it. If we approach it with the intent to win, then we will go there to win because we have many good players, and you can’t underestimate anyone” he stated.
Partey expressed confidence in the team’s potential and the ongoing project, emphasizing his faith in both the new and experienced players.
“I believe in all the players coming into the team, both young and seasoned. They need our support and that of every Ghanaian. From what I’ve seen in training, the quality is there, and I am confident it will be impressive.”
The match kicks off at 16:00 GMT.
The Black Stars are looking to secure their first victory after a 1-0 loss to Angola last Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
