Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has called on Black Stars manager Otto Addo to include three local players in Ghana’s lineup for the final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The players – Razak Simpson, Isaac Afful, and Emmanuel Antwi – are in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming matches against Angola and Niger.
Local players often receive limited playing time on the national team, but Manso argues that with Ghana’s low 10 percent chance of qualifying, it’s time to give these players an opportunity.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Manso said, “The local players invited by Otto Addo should be given the chance to play against Angola and Niger.”
“Our chances of qualifying for AFCON are about 10 percent, so I think the local players in the squad deserve an opportunity to prove themselves,” he explained.
Manso also believes that showcasing local talent on the national stage would boost the Ghana Premier League and inspire other players to aim for the Black Stars.
“It would be beneficial for the Ghana Premier League and motivate other players to work harder,” he added.
The Black Stars will travel to Luanda today for their match against Angola on Friday, November 15, at Estádio 11 de Novembro. They’ll then return to Accra to host Niger on Monday, November 18, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
