Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has expressed concerns about the condition of the Baba Yara Stadium pitch ahead of the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in September.
Ghana, aiming for their fifth continental title, is set to face Angola in the opening match of the qualifying series on Thursday, September 5.
The stadium’s pitch has been the subject of numerous complaints, with CAF officials requesting improvements in recent weeks.
Despite these concerns, the match is still scheduled to take place in Kumasi.
Speaking to the press during the announcement of his squad, Addo highlighted the importance of a good playing surface.
“It’s concerning because the way we want to play we need a good pitch,” said Addo during the presser to announce his squad for the game.
“At the moment, there are a lot of discussions about how we can do better so there will be no discussions about the pitch.
“We want our players to be happy to do anything possible to give their best on the pitch. Therefore, we have to do a little bit better to make the pitch as best as possible,’ he added.
After the match against Angola, Ghana will take on Niger in Morocco on September 10.
