Black Stars coach, Otto Addo voiced his frustration after his side’s 1-1 draw with Niger in their second Group F match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana’s chance to secure their first win in the qualifiers slipped away as Niger scored a late equalizer at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, ending the game level.
In his post-match remarks, Addo was candid about his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly in the final moments of the match.
“Definitely not, I am not satisfied at all,” he told the Ghana FA website. “I am really disappointed, to be honest. We talked and we trained on set pieces, we talked about situations which could happen and the way they defended in the last 10 minutes was really, really bad.
“I think in general we had the game under control. We allowed sometimes some counter situations where we don’t close the gaps really well and then we got the lead. I think from that point things were easier,” he added.
Ghana’s sole goal came from defender Alidu Seidu, who scored in the 44th minute with a powerful shot, assisted by Mohammed Kudus.
Niger equalized in the 81st minute when Oumar Sako found the back of the net with an assist from Moussa Kassa Moudou.
With this result, the Black Stars are now in 3rd place in the group with just one point from two matches.
Ghana will face a crucial doubleheader against Sudan in October as they aim for qualification.
