Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has reassured fans that Otto Addo and his Black Stars technical team will be ready for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

This statement comes after a terrifying accident involving Otto Addo, John Paintsil, and Fatau Dauda on Sunday.

The incident occurred on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road as they were returning to Accra after attending the Champion of Champions match between FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC at the T&N Park on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Images circulating online show the severe damage to their vehicle, with goalkeeper coach Fatau Dauda seen walking away from the wreckage.

However, John Paintsil indicated that the coaches were unharmed, though a thorough medical evaluation will be done to confirm their condition.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Asante Twum said Otto Addo, John Paintsil, and Fatau Dauda will be given psychological support to ensure they are mentally and physically prepared for the upcoming qualifiers.

“Yes, they will. All of them have assured us that despite this misfortune, they will be ready and prepared to lead the team to success on Thursday,” Asante Twum said.

“It’s very unfortunate, but we are in a critical moment. We want to start the qualifiers on a strong note, leaving nothing to chance. We are working on them psychologically and physically to prepare them for the tough game ahead,” he added.

The Black Stars are set to face Angola in their first Group F qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5, before travelling to Berkane to play Niger on September 9.
