2025 AFCONQ: Niger players cannot get playing spot at Dreams FC – Black Stars players slammed

-

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku has asserted that several players from the Nigerien national team would struggle to secure a spot on the roster of Dreams FC.

This statement follows a 1-1 draw between the Black Stars and Niger in their second Group F match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers last month, which came on the heels of a defeat to Angola.

During a meeting with the players on Tuesday, Okraku expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing that Niger should not have been able to earn points against Ghana.

“Four or five players from the Niger squad wouldn’t even make it onto my team. That’s the reality. Yet, we ended up with a 1-1 draw against Niger,” he stated.

He went on to critique the performance of the Black Stars, saying, “What we observed was a team lacking energy, passion, and the will to compete. This is unacceptable.”

The Black Stars are set to continue their qualification campaign with a doubleheader against Sudan.

Ghana will host the Falcons for the first leg on Thursday, October 10, kicking off at 16:00 GMT, before travelling to Libya for the return match on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium.

Currently, Ghana is positioned third in Group F with just one point.
