2025 AFCONQ: Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan beat Niger to protect unbeaten start

-

Sudan head coach, Kwesi Appiah extended his unbeaten streak after securing a 1-0 victory over Niger in their first match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

In the Group F opener on Wednesday at the Juba Stadium, the Falcons made an impressive start, claiming all three points with a goal from Abobaker Mamoun Eisa in the 51st minute.

This victory temporarily puts Sudan at the top of the Group F standings, pending the outcome of Thursday’s match between Ghana and Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Appiah and his charges are determined to qualify for the tournament in Morocco after missing out on the previous edition in Ivory Coast.

Up next, Appiah will lead Sudan against Angola in the second group match before facing his former team, the Black Stars.

Since his appointment, James Kwesi Appiah has remained unbeaten, with three wins and one draw in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, leaving Sudan at the top of Group B with 10 points after four games.
