Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has acknowledged the tough challenge ahead as his team prepares to face Sudan in the upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana, who has claimed the AFCON title four times, were held to a 1-1 draw by Niger, ranked 125th, in their second Group F match at Stade Municipal de Berkane on Monday.
This draw leaves the Black Stars in third place in their group, with just one point from two matches. They are set to play against Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan in a crucial doubleheader in October.
In his post-match comments, Addo emphasized the importance of the next two games, highlighting the necessity for victories to maintain their qualification hopes for the AFCON in Morocco.
“It will be difficult again. I knew from the start, it’s just some little margins, little details which can decide,” he told the Ghana FA website.
“This will be again, for us it will be a crucial match. We have to win, there is no way around it, and we have to win. If we want to have the chance to play better after, we have to win. We are under pressure, this is for sure and we have to do better,” he added.
Ghana’s qualifiers began with a 1-0 defeat to Angola last Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
