Ghanaian football fans expressed their frustration by hurling bottles onto the pitch after the Black Stars suffered a 1-0 loss to Angola in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The defeat came after a late goal from Milson, ending the team’s 24-year unbeaten home record.
Tensions flared after the final whistle, with the home crowd venting their anger by throwing objects onto the field with the pitch panels also left destroyed.

The situation was worsened by the poor condition of the pitch, a concern fans had already raised due to its impact on player performance.
Despite dominating possession, Ghana struggled to break through, with key players like Jordan Ayew and Mohammed Kudus seeing their efforts blocked.
A defensive error by Abdul Mumin allowed Angola to seize their chance and claim the victory, further fueling the frustration of the home supporters.
This loss marks Ghana’s first defeat in Kumasi since 2000, a tough start to their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars will now turn their focus to their next match against Niger on Monday, September 9, in Berkane.
Coach, Otto Addo and his team will be looking to bounce back and secure their first win after this disappointing home loss.
