Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has refrained from guaranteeing a win against Sudan in the upcoming second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
In their third match of the qualifiers, Ghana was held to a goalless draw against the Falcons at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The result leaves the Black Stars winless in the qualifiers so far, with two draws and a loss, placing them third in Group F.
As the team prepares for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Tuesday, October 15, Addo acknowledged the unpredictability of football, emphasizing that he cannot promise an outright victory for the Black Stars.
However, the 45-year-old coach remains optimistic, stressing that the team is well-prepared and determined to capitalize on the missed opportunities from the first match in Accra.
“This assurance everybody is talking about, for what? This is football, and I cannot even assure. You know what I can assure? We will try our best, and I know that in the end, we’ll be rewarded. And the positive thing is, it’s still in our own hands. We have to win the next game,” he said.
“And then, if we don’t qualify, then it’s still a long way. It’s going to be very, very tough to the last match, but we will do it with this performance again. We will do it in Libya against Sudan,” Addo added.
The return leg is scheduled to kick off at 13:00 GMT.
