The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has opened up on why Thomas Partey is not joining Black Stars camp.
The Arsenal midfielder has been ruled out for the doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Michael Baidoo handed a maiden call-up to replace him.
A statement by the Ghana FA on Monday said Partey is not joining the team for the games due to a medical issue.
However, providing further information on why the 31-year-old will be absent from the games, Asante Twum speaking with Asempa FM on the Ultimate Sports Show revealed that, Partey will join the camp due to an illness.
Despite the clarification, Asante Twum did not provide the exact kind of illness.

The Black Stars held their first training session on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium with 11 players. Meanwhile, eight players have joined Black Stars camp ahead of their second training session.
The first leg of the doubleheader will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with the return leg set for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
