The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Accra Sports Stadium will host Ghana’s final match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The game is scheduled for Monday, November 18, 2024, against Niger.
This stadium previously hosted the Black Stars’ first leg against Sudan last month after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revoked the license for the Baba Yara Stadium.
Before facing Niger, Ghana will play away against Angola in the fifth matchday in Luanda. Currently, the Black Stars are determined to secure a victory after a challenging start to the qualifiers, which has left them in third place in Group F, with only two points from four matches.
Otto Addo’s squad trails Angola, the group leaders, by ten points and is five points behind second-placed Sudan. Ghana’s chances of qualification are no longer entirely in their control; to keep their hopes alive, they must win their remaining matches against both Niger and Angola while hoping that Sudan loses both of its upcoming games.
Sudan, coached by Kwesi Appiah, needs just one point to clinch qualification.
Next year’s 2025 AFCON tournament will be held in Morocco.
