The Black Stars held their first training session on Saturday in preparation for their second AFCON qualifier against Niger, scheduled for Monday.
A total of 22 players participated in the session following the withdrawal of Istanbul Basaksehir defender Jerome Opoku due to injury.
LA Galaxy winger, Joseph Paintsil was absent as he remained in Accra to resolve passport issues, leaving coach Otto Addo with a slightly reduced squad for the crucial match.
Among those who trained were goalkeepers Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott, and Frederick Asare, alongside defenders Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu, and Abdul Mumin.
Midfielders Fatawu Issahaku, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and forwards Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Elisha Owusu—who all started in last Thursday’s game against Angola—also took part in the training.
Bench players from the previous match, including Majeed Ashimeru, Forson Amankwah, Inaki Williams, Kingsley Schindler, and Brandon Thomas-Asante, joined the session, along with Jonas Adjetey, Ibrahim Osman, Ebenezer Annan, and Abu Francis.
The Black Stars will face Niger at the Municipal Sports Complex in Berkane on Monday, September 9, 2024, as they aim to secure their first win of the qualifiers, following a 1-0 defeat against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT.
