2025 AFCONQ: Black Stars open camp with eight players ahead Angola, Niger games

-

Black Stars began their preparations for their decisive final round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with an initial group of eight players reporting to camp.

The team assembled on Monday morning, kicking off their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The session included three locally-based players—Razak Simpson from Nations FC, Isaac Afful from Samartex, and Emmanuel Antwi from Asante Kotoko—alongside five foreign-based players: Gideon Mensah, Mohammed Kudus, Elisha Owusu, Joseph Wollacott, and Osman Bukari.

Coach Addo anticipates more players will join camp by Monday evening to bolster the squad.

The Black Stars are scheduled for a closed-door training session on Tuesday before departing for Luanda on Wednesday.

Their fifth-round qualifier against Angola is set for Friday, November 15, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro. The team will then complete the qualifiers on home ground at the Accra Sports Stadium, facing Niger on Monday, November 18.

Currently, Ghana ranks third in Group F with only two points from four matches, leaving qualification out of their direct control.

To secure a spot in next year’s tournament in Morocco, the Black Stars must win both remaining matches and hope that Sudan, currently at seven points, loses both of theirs.
