2025 AFCONQ: Black Stars must win against Sudan – Dr Randy Abbey

-

A member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Randy Abbey, has insisted that the Black Stars must secure wins against Sudan in their upcoming doubleheader.

Ghana is set to face the Falcons in the third match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Friday, October 11, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The team will then travel for the fourth match on Monday, October 14, which will take place at the Martyrs of February Stadium.

The Black Stars began their qualifying campaign with disappointing results, suffering a 1-0 loss to Angola’s Palancras Negras at Baba Yara Stadium and managing only a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane.

These outcomes have left coach Otto Addo’s squad in third place with just one point.

Ahead of the games against Kwesi Appiah’s side, Dr Abbey stressed the importance of winning these games and stated that the team is committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve victory, which is crucial for improving their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco.

“It’s a must-win game,” he said on Metro TV.

“We have to do everything we can to win that game, we know the consequences if we don’t win. So we need to win that and then once we have dealt with that, we will focus on the subsequent games,” he added.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad for the upcoming games later this week.
