2025 AFCONQ: Baba Yara Stadium will be in condition to host Ghana v Angola game – NSA assures

-

The Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Seth Panwum, has assured that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be ready in time for Ghana’s opening match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars are set to face off against the Palancas Negras in the Group F opener on September 5, with the match scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.

The pitch has been left in poor condition following a five-day crusade held at the venue.

Addressing concerns about the stadium’s readiness, Panwum in an interview on GTV Sports Plus the pitch is ready for the game.

“The place was given out for a program. I had to review their recovery plan, you know, and I think they are right on track. I had an update from Kumasi, and I think all hands are on deck to meet the deadline. I think in a few days, the pitch should be in 200% perfect condition for the game.

“The contractor was also at the site to put some finishing touches on the media centre and the press centre. You know, it’s one point that CAF doesn’t compromise on,” he added.

Following the match against Angola, the Black Stars will travel to face Niger in their second Group F game four days later.
