Angola has taken the lead in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after securing consecutive victories.
Following an impressive win over Ghana in their opening match, the Palancas Negras clinched a 2-1 victory against Sudan on Monday in Luanda.
Despite a lively first half, neither team could break the deadlock.
However, just six minutes into the second half, Angola earned a penalty after Milson was fouled inside the box. Forward Mabululu calmly converted the spot-kick to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Sudan responded quickly, with Mustafa Karshoum firing in a right-footed shot to level the score just four minutes later.
As the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Randy Nteka’s deflected shot in the 81st minute gave Angola the decisive lead.
Sudan struggled to respond, and the match ended in their first defeat in five competitive matches under coach Kwesi Appiah.
Angola now leads Group F with six points, while Sudan sits in second place with three. Ghana and Niger follow, both with one point.
The qualifiers will continue in mid-October, with Angola taking on Niger and Sudan facing Ghana in a series of home-and-away fixtures.
