2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Iñaki Williams could miss Ghana’s final matches against Angola and Niger

-

Athletic Bilbao striker Iñaki Williams may miss Ghana’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger due to a hamstring injury.

The Spanish club confirmed that the 30-year-old forward sustained the injury prior to their La Liga match against Real Valladolid on Sunday at the José Zorrilla Stadium.

Despite efforts to recover, Williams was ultimately ruled out of the game.

“Athletic Club forward Iñaki Williams will miss Sunday’s LaLiga clash with Real Valladolid after straining his left hamstring,” the club stated.

Williams is scheduled to undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

The forward, who has scored five goals this season, had been included in Ghana’s 25-man squad for the upcoming qualifiers.

The Black Stars are set to begin their training camp in Accra on Sunday, with sessions planned at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of their match against Angola’s Palancas Negras on November 15 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro.

They will wrap up the qualifiers against Niger on November 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Currently, Ghana stands third in Group F with two points from four games, trailing Angola and Sudan, as they strive to secure a place in the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
