Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has voiced his disappointment over the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
For the first time in 20 years, Ghana’s senior national football team will miss out on Africa’s premier football tournament, which will take place in Morocco later this year.
The Black Stars ended their qualifying campaign at the bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches.
In a statement following the team’s failure, the Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency expressed concern, emphasizing that it reflects poorly on the four-time African champions.
“It doesn’t speak well that the African continent will meet for a football competition and Ghana isn’t there,” he told Sporty FM.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars now shift their focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will resume in March.
Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar in the upcoming Matchday five and six fixtures.
