2024 polls: We have nothing in common – PNP tells PNC

-

Founder of the People’s National Party (PNP), Janet Nabla has refuted allegations that her party is ‘copying’ the ideologies and principles of the People’s National Convention (PNC).

According to her, the PNP has no intention of poaching its members or misleading voters, adding that her party shares nothing in common with the PNC.

The PNC has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC), to withhold PNP’s final certificate of registration.

In a statement issued to the EC on July 16, the PNC’s legal representatives expressed concerns about the similarity between the names PNP and PNC, given that the PNP was the predecessor party that led to the formation of the PNC.

They argue that, this similarity could confuse voters.

But in an interview on Citi FM on Thursday, the PNP Chairperson, Janet Nabla strongly refuted this claim.

She urged the PNC’s leader, “Mr Apasera, work hard with your PNC. Trust me, we have nothing in common. Our party symbols and things are different.

“The truth is that we don’t want anybody from the PNC who loves you to come to us, that is the truth. We don’t because we know the challenges of the PNC. When you have a new party you will want to work with people who love the truth, transparency, and integrity.

“Those are the people we want to work with and believe me, those who love the PNC now cannot qualify to be under those brackets I have just mentioned,” she added.
