Former Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo has urged Ghanaians to take a decisive stand against the growing tide of corruption by voting out corrupt leaders in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Speaking at a Crusaders for Change event in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Domelevo expressed his deep concern over the rising cases of corruption across the country.
He emphasized the importance of holding leaders accountable, urging voters to use their ballots as a powerful tool to prevent corrupt officials from being re-elected.
He highlighted the crucial role citizens play in combating corruption, noting that their votes can influence the direction of the country’s leadership and governance.
“The generation ahead of us is a greedy one. They want to take everything today and even what belongs to tomorrow. We must stop this. You have the knowledge and power to tell our leaders that enough is enough,” he stated.
“Sadly, we are in an election year. Let’s make it clear to any leader we perceive to be corrupt—whether at the presidential or parliamentary level—that their time is up. You know who they are. We must stop them in their tracks, or else you and I have no future.”
Domelevo also called on the judiciary to maintain professionalism, especially in handling electoral disputes.
“My final plea is to the judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court. I urge them to heed the advice of National Security Minister, Honourable Kan-Dapaah. He warned that if the Court’s interpretations are consistently biased towards us [NPP], it could cause problems—and it already is.
“I read that former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo said the Supreme Court has become predictable. If she indeed said that, I completely agree, because many of us knew the outcomes of some cases even before they were announced. What we need is impartiality and professionalism,” he added.
