The Ghana Police Service has arrested 89 individuals for various offences committed during the 2024 general elections, including acts of vandalism, looting, and property destruction.
In a statement on Monday, the Police confirmed that 40 of the suspects are directly linked to violent incidents, with all those arrested set to face prosecution.
These arrests form part of heightened security efforts to ensure peace, law, and order post-election.
While incidents of unrest have been limited, the Police remain vigilant to prevent further disruptions.
Key security measures include:
- Increased patrols in collaboration with other security agencies.
- Intelligence-led operations to identify and arrest offenders.
- Static security presence at critical state facilities.
- Engagement with government officials and stakeholders to maintain order.
- A special investigation team analyzing evidence to identify and prosecute perpetrators.
The Police have issued a stern warning against violent behaviour, assuring that offenders will face the full force of the law.
