2024 polls: NPP needs opposition to revive and rebrand – Mustapha Gbande

-

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has suggested that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs to spend time in opposition to revive and rebrand.

According to him, the NPP government is filled with years of internal turmoil and scandals.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday after the release of the Global Info Analytics poll which shows former President John Mahama leading with 53.1% ahead of the 2024 election, Gbande emphasized the need for the NPP to reassess its priorities.

“The President has prioritized his family, and the financial scandals surrounding them are enough to explain why these poll results are a possibility,” he stated.

Gbande added that, while the NDC is heading into the election united and strong, the NPP is dealing with deep internal divisions and corruption scandals.

He noted that, even senior members of the NPP believe the party needs time in opposition to regroup and rebuild its image.

“The NDC is going into the election united and strong, but that is not the case with the NPP. In fact, senior members of the NPP believe that their party needs to go into opposition to revive and rebrand it. For a party that has touted itself as full of intellectuals, it is an eyesore to see the disgrace. The NPP is filled with political scandals and corruption,” he said.
