2024 polls: NDC just preparing supporters for defeat – Justin Kodua

-

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of preparing its supporters to reject the results of the upcoming December 2024 elections.

On Tuesday, September 17, the NDC held a nationwide protest demanding an audit of the provisional voter’s register, alleging numerous irregularities that could jeopardize the fairness of the election. The Electoral Commission (EC) has disagreed with these claims.

However, in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Wednesday, Mr Kodua accused the NDC of inciting chaos ahead of the polls.

“In 2015, we raised more concerns with the EC, backed with evidence, yet the NDC… This list of discrepancies they say they have, where is it?” he questioned.

He criticized the NDC for failing to provide proof of their allegations against the Electoral Commission.

“He who alleges has to prove, so where is their proof?” he quizzed.

Mr Kodua further dismissed the NDC’s recent nationwide protest as a waste of resources, suggesting that the party often manipulates its supporters by giving them false hope.

He also defended the Electoral Commission, stating, “The EC is only doing its job. What is the use of the EC if you are calling for a third party to come and do their job for them?”

He urged the NDC to focus on its campaign instead of causing disruptions, emphasizing that elections are a serious business and should be approached with responsibility.

“Where is the list of discrepancies they claim to have? They asked for evidence of the allegations but haven’t provided any. The burden of proof lies with the accuser, so where is their evidence?

“Even a neutral person would say that the NDC’s demonstration yesterday was a waste of resources. It seems like they are always manipulating their supporters and giving them false hope. The EC is simply doing its job. What’s the use of the EC if you’re calling for a third party to come and do their job for them? Elections are a serious matter, and the NDC should focus on their campaign and stop wasting everyone’s time” Mr. Kodua stressed.
