The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to establish tractor stations in farming communities across Ghana if he is elected in the upcoming December 7 elections.
These stations, he explained, are intended to alleviate the difficulties farmers face in accessing mechanized equipment and other essential resources for their work.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters and local farmers at Kwame Danso in the Sene West District of the Bono East Region during his 2024 campaign tour, Mahama assured them of his commitment to improving agricultural support.
“Under an NDC government, every farming community will benefit from tractor stations. Sene West, for instance, will have its own centre, fully equipped with 10 tractors and all the necessary tools to ease the farming process,” he stated.
He further explained that, farmers would need to form cooperatives and register, after which their farmlands would be surveyed.
Once registered, they could access the services provided by the tractor stations.
