2024 polls: Ignore NDC’s propaganda against voters register – NPP

-

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to provide evidence to support its claims of a bloated voter register during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 1.

The meeting, organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) and held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, was intended to address concerns surrounding the voters’ register ahead of the 2024 elections.

The NDC has alleged that the register includes ineligible voters and other inaccuracies, leading to a nationwide protest on September 17, where the party demanded a forensic audit of the electoral roll.

Despite these claims, the NPP said the NDC missed a key opportunity to present proof of the alleged discrepancies during the IPAC session.

NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, addressing the media after the meeting, emphasized that the NDC had failed to back up its accusations.

“All of you [the media] were here. Tell me, in all the presentations made by their [NDC’s] representatives, at what point did they present any evidence? Did they give us the data they referenced? None.

“They shifted to irrelevant matters, talking about a leaking roof and mopping the floor. Is that why we are here? We came here because of the serious allegations they made. Why did they back out? Why is the NDC backing out?” he quizzed.
