2024 polls: Hohoe is returning to NDC – Asiedu Nketia

-

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has confidently stated that his party will reclaim the Hohoe Constituency seat in the upcoming December 7th parliamentary elections.

He explained that voters have come to realize that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) failed to deliver on the promises that convinced them to support their parliamentary candidate, John Peter Amewu, in the previous election. As a result, they are ready to return to the NDC.

Mr. Nketia made these remarks while during his campaign in Hohoe.

“Hohoe is coming back to the NDC, and the NDC is going to move Hohoe to the next level,” he confidently declared.

He further accused the NPP of engaging in deceptive tactics, specifically by promising to complete the Eastern Corridor road despite knowing it was never part of their agenda.

“The game changer is the Eastern Corridor roads. When we were constructing it, the NPP criticized us for going too slowly. I warned you they were deceiving us and would never finish that road. Now, eight years later, what progress have they made?” he questioned.

He also claimed that the minimal work done on the road under President Akufo-Addo’s administration was part of a deliberate attempt to hinder development in the area.

Mr. Nketia reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to completing the road if voted back into power, stating it would open new commercial routes and promote growth in communities along the corridor.

“I assure you, when the NDC returns to power, with Efo Worlanyo leading, the road will be finished. The distance from Tema Harbour to the north will be reduced by 100 kilometres, attracting traffic from Niger, Benin, and beyond,” he emphasized.

The NDC parliamentary candidate for Hohoe, Worlanyo Taekpo, also urged constituents to elect him as their next Member of Parliament.

The NDC lost the Hohoe parliamentary seat to the NPP in 2020, when John Peter Amewu defeated Professor Margaret Kweku by about 5,000 votes.

It remains the only seat the NPP won out of the 18 constituencies in the Volta Region.
