2024 polls: Goodluck Jonathan commends peaceful start to elections

-

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere observed at the start of Ghana’s elections.

Speaking to the press at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on Saturday, December 7, he emphasized the importance of maintaining peace throughout the process until results are declared.

“So far, we haven’t heard of any untoward behavior from voters or others. We only pray that they maintain this peace,” he remarked.

As a member of the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) monitoring team, Mr Jonathan and his colleagues are in Ghana to observe the elections and help ensure a smooth process.

Their focus is on the Greater Accra Region, where they will tour polling stations and address any issues in collaboration with stakeholders.

The former President acknowledged concerns regarding the management of results from polling stations to the national level but expressed confidence in Ghana’s strong tradition of disciplined electoral practices.

“I am hopeful that it will end well because this country is known for discipline,” he stated.
