2024 polls: Ghana will be better off with NPP in power – Bawumia

-

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasised that Ghana stands to gain immensely if the NPP continues in power.

He highlighted the party’s array of policies aimed at improving the quality of life for Ghanaians and fostering business growth.

Dr Bawumia outlined his vision for the nation’s future during his campaign at the Kaneshie market in Okaikoi South.

He introduced a flat tax policy in cedis, applicable to all goods, and a tax amnesty to simplify dealings with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

These measures, he explained, are designed to enhance the overall well-being of the populace and stimulate economic development.

He also underscored the NPP’s commitment to supporting small businesses and empowering women traders, with plans to establish an SME bank and a women’s trade empowerment fund.

Additionally, Dr Bawumia announced initiatives to remove import duties on mobile phones, extend the validity of driving licenses to 10 years, and abolish the e-levy.

He further pledged to equip the youth with digital skills.

Dr Bawumia urged voters to support him as Ghana’s next president, stressing that his opponent, former President John Dramani Mahama, would not have enough time in office to be fully accountable.

In contrast, Dr. Bawumia assured Ghanaians that he would hold himself responsible over a longer period if elected.

“We are implementing a new directive to reform the import regime at the Port, including a flat tax policy in cedis for all goods, making Ghana’s import duty competitive with neighbouring countries like Togo. We are also launching a women’s bank and an SME bank to provide financial support to women traders.

“Moreover, we will introduce a tax amnesty to eliminate confusion with the Ghana Revenue Authority and remove import duties on mobile phones. We will also extend driving licenses’ validity to 10 years, abolish the e-levy, and offer digital skills training for the youth. Voting for former President John Dramani Mahama will only guarantee four years of accountability, but by voting for me, you can expect longer-term accountability,” he stated.
