The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reassured Ghanaians that the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy will remain in place under his administration, with structured funding to ensure its sustainability.
Speaking to Christian leaders in Kumasi on Monday, November 11, Mahama addressed concerns regarding his stance on Free SHS, dismissing claims that he intends to cancel the policy as “political gimmicks” aimed at misleading the public.
He emphasized that while the program has expanded educational access, sustainable funding is essential to preserve and enhance its quality.
“Free SHS is here to stay. We must prioritize its funding to improve quality and ensure continuity,” Mahama stated.
Mahama also underscored the importance of quality education, asserting that a well-funded program would improve educational outcomes for Ghanaian students.
He assured Ghanaians that, under his leadership, Free SHS would not only be maintained but also strengthened to meet the needs of future generations.
