2024 polls: EC warns voters against electoral law violations

-

The Electoral Commission (EC) has cautioned voters against any unlawful activities during the ongoing elections, warning that violators will face legal consequences.

Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr. Benjamin Bano-Bioh, delivered the warning during a press briefing on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

He highlighted the Commission’s commitment to a smooth and peaceful election process, emphasizing that this depends on all participants adhering to the rules.

“Anyone who disrupts the process or violates the law will face the full force of justice,” Dr. Bano-Bioh stated.

He urged voters to exercise their rights responsibly while respecting election regulations designed to protect the integrity of the democratic process.

He also called on all stakeholders, including party agents and election officials, to maintain order and uphold the law.

“So far, the process has been smooth, and I hope it continues this way. No one will be spared if they break the law. Everyone will be held accountable,” he warned.

The EC reiterated its commitment to free, fair, and credible elections and appealed to voters to prioritize peace throughout the exercise.
