The Accra High Court has postponed its ruling on a motion by the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah to October 21, 2024.
He is contesting the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to disqualify him from the 2024 presidential election.
According to the EC, Mr Mornah was among 11 candidates disqualified due to errors in their nomination forms that were not corrected.
Bernard Mornah, however, is challenging the decision, accusing the EC of breaching constitutional procedures by denying him the chance to fix the errors.
The EC refutes this claim, explaining that while some mistakes were highlighted, those considered criminal were not communicated to the candidates.
During the hearing, Mr Mornah’s legal team, led by Harold Atuguba, argued that the EC exceeded its discretionary powers.
They also called for a suspension of all electoral processes related to the presidential election until the court’s ruling is delivered.
