The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured President-elect John Dramani Mahama of his support in governing the nation following his victory in the 2024 general election.
Dr. Bawumia offered this assurance after conceding defeat and congratulating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader on his electoral success.
In an address to the nation from Accra on Sunday, December 8, Dr. Bawumia explained that his decision to concede was motivated by a commitment to unity and peace as Ghanaians await the official declaration from the Electoral Commission (EC).
Provisional results from constituencies nationwide show John Mahama with a commanding lead, indicating a decisive victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to his campaign team and supporters for their dedication, acknowledging the challenges of the electoral process.
He urged NPP members and all Ghanaians to prioritize national progress over partisanship.
“As we await the EC’s final confirmation, let us maintain peace and stability. Regardless of political differences, we must come together to build a stronger and better Ghana,” he said.
