The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has expressed confidence about his victory in the Ashanti region in the December 7 election.
According to him, the wind of change is blowing and no matter what his main contender, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia does, he will lose.
Addressing electorates, Mr Mahama declared that Dr Bawumia, is losing his sleep due to his presence in the Ashanti region, where he is currently campaigning.
Mahama questioned Bawumia’s return to the region with barely five days to the general election after already exhausting a 15-day campaign tour.
“All I would say is that he can bring his wife, the Second Lady, and all his children to come and sleep in the Ashanti Region. No matter what he does, when the time comes, the NDC will still win,” he declared.
He revealed that, his campaign team had to delay their activities in the region due to Bawumia’s prolonged stay to avoid potential conflicts.
“Our campaign team knew that the presence of both candidates in one region could create problems. So, we decided to wait for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to complete his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region. The moment he finished and left, we announced the date we would start ours. I just heard that he has run back here,” Mahama remarked.
As part of the campaign the NDC led by John Mahama and some parliamentary candidates, embarked on a mammoth walk dubbed Enti Asanteman Aseda Ni to remind residents about the NPP’s neglect despite their constant support.
Mahama said the frequent visit of the Vice president sends a signal that the NPP has taken the people there for granted.
John Mahama believes that posture will rather give the NDC more votes in the region, hence Bawumia should stop wasting his time and energy.
